Dj Krush Live Part 2

Well i previously posted 3 Dj Krush sets and i now have another 2 for your enjoyment. The 2nd set from Rote Sonne, Munich is quite recent and is similar to the set i saw him perform in November last year in Melbourne which is hands down the best dj set i have ever witnessed, anyway i am sure anyone who is bothering to check this blog will dig these two sets (how could you not? dj krush is the master!)

Prefuse 73 - Live at ATP 2001

Here is a rather short but sweet set from Prefuse 73. There is also an appearance by slug for a few tracks, so get your hands on this as its pretty damn nice

Modeselektor Live at Soma & on Triple J Radio

Here are two sets from Belgian duo Modeselektor, as you would expect they are a great display of hip hop laced glitchy electronica.

Crown City Rockers - Earth Tones

I really love this album. Everything about it is perfect, really tight band, fantastic MC and funky as fuck. Excuse my lack of articulation and just allow the music to speak for itself.

Carlo & Buddy Peace - Commonwealth Kids

Well this mix is how a hip hop mix should be, upbeat and full of lots of fantastic blends.

Green Light Jerky

Ok, well other than music one of my other great passions in life is definitly food, so i thought i would take an oppotunity to spread the word of the dried meat revolotuion that is taking the jerky world by storm.
A mate of mine has recenty started up the Green Light Jerky company and all i can say is that this shit is fantastic, with a range of unique flavours and using only quality ingredients this jerky is a step above the rest, so i recommend that anyone that stumbles across this blog orders some of this quality and reasonably priced delicious snack

Freestyle Fellowship- Inner City Griots

Ok well this album is a timeless classic and it is a great example of what 5 people with a real passion and raw talent can acheive. This album came out in the early 90's and whilst at times the production on this album may have a little to be desired the sheer quality of mc skills demonstrated on this album are second to none in my opinion.

Well if you havn't heard this before then you are in for a real treat

Dj Krush- Live

Well anyone who has been in my company for more than 5 minutes would have probably heard me ramble on about my admiration for Dj Krush, in particular the quality of his live sets.

I have been fortunate enough to see Dj Krush perform on 2 occaisons and each time i have been blown away by the beauty that one man can create with nothing more than two turntables and an old vestax mixer.

The one thing that really stands out for me with a Dj Krush live set is that no set really ever sounds the same, whilst there is a signature Dj Krush sound he manages to mix up the content on his live shows enough to make each set a really captivating experience and i think that is evident in the 3 shows i have uploaded.

So i have 3 rather short sets for your listening pleasure and each one certainly does justice and sums up quite nicely what a Dj Krush set is all about

Enjoy!

Dj Krush Live at Sonar 2002

Sixtoo - Duration

With a new Sixtoo album on the horizon i thought i would post the album that first introduced me to Sixtoo.

The album is a 40 minute instrumental piece split into 16 parts and includes samples from obscure films , sounds from public places where the music was re-recorded and drums, lots and lots of drums.

Anyway this is certainly one of my favourite instrumental albums, so i hope you enjoy it.

We Are All Going To Burn In Hell Megamix

Well the last couple of months or so my ears have almost been exclusively consumed by El-p's brilliant new album I'll Sleep When your Dead, its been quite a while since a hip hop album has had such an impact on me and i personally think El-P has raised the bar in the production game with this album.

So i was rather pleased when i was looking through the ninjatune forum the other day and found that someone had uploaded an El-P mix that was done for the Def Jux fan club and as you can imagine it is a must have for any Def Jux fan, so here it is!

Fela Kuti - The Underground Spiritual Sound

This is a great mix of Fela Kuti's music and would be a great introduction to anyone who is not familiar to Fela's sound. This mix is compiled by Chief Xcel who is one half of Quannums Blackalicous.

Enjoy!

Melbourne from a different view

Ok so this post isnt music related but i thought its something i should share. My good friend Ath has taken some awesome shots of Melbourne from a completely different perspective, everything from the inside of Flinders Street clock and the GPO, to an extensive catalouge of shots from Melbournes drain system. No sewer is to smelly and no crane is to high to prevent Ath from getting a shot.

Soma - The Inner Cinema

Ok, so for my first entry i thought i would share some Australian Electro. This album is by Soma an Australian electro duo who make some really intricate and lovely music. I got turned onto this by a friend from work and has been on constant rotation since i first heard it, so thanks Keri and Steve for the heads up. Anyway i hope some of you folk out there who may have stumbled upon this blog dig it.

welcome to literal beats

Ok well this blog has been created basically beacause i always leech music from other blogs and tend to find blogs a good way of checking new music that may have otherwise gone under the radar, so i thought it was about time to put something back and help spread the knowledge.

I wont be using this blog to rant on about my mundane life but rather to share some dope music with whoever may be interested.

I hope someone out there checks it out and digs some of the stuff on here
